WE’RE TRAINING ATHLETES. BUT WE’RE LOSING PEOPLE

We’ve built a system that rewards performance - but ignores what it costs.

As a young athlete, I’ve seen how easily pressure becomes silence. Not because we don’t care about mental health, but because we still treat it as something separate from sport.

It isn’t.

Mental strength is not an add-on to performance. It is the foundation of it.

If we want stronger athletes, we need better systems:

· coaches trained to understand psychological pressure, safe environments where speaking up is normal, and access to sport as a tool for wellbeing - not just competition.

This is not complicated. It’s a choice.

To integrate mental health into how we train, how we coach, and how we build communities through sport.

My generation is ready to move this forward.

I’m Nicholas Carstoiu - athlete, youth advocate, and member of the UNICEF Children’s Board - and I believe sport can do more than build performance. It can build healthier, stronger people.

And I’m ready to be part of that change.

Sa integrăm sanatatea mentala in felul in care antrenam, educam si construim comunitati prin sport.
